During an extended deep space exploration of a sector outside Dominion occupied space, two deep space Starfleet ships have recently gone silent. Starfleet command fear a possible revival of war with the Dominion, but all communication with the founders offer no explanation, and even offered safe harbor for any other ships if needed. But warn Starfleet and the Federation of not exploring certain areas of space.

Captain Hawkins is given command of a search and rescue task force, lead by his flag ship, the Gladiator [Even though Hawkins continues to command the Gladiator, he takes the time to allow Commander Kosugi to lead the exploration portion for a bit? Not sure as of yet how to do this part.] After a quick gathering, and supply top off at Deep Space 9, the Task Force is dispatched through the Bajoran worm hole, to the Gamma Quadrant. The task force is met with the Dominion escort, which takes them to the edges of known occupied space, where the Task Force find the nebula in question. The nebula spans an unknown amount of space, but ships are unable to make a stable warp bubble, making warp travel, not possible. The only thing now is for the ships to split off and explore the sector of space and try to find any possible signs of the lost ships.
